CPD Course Material Development on Health Information System Project Management
Description
To realize the Information Revolution Agenda and Roadmap, the Ministry of Health is developing and implementing several digital health systems. However, the development of these systems shall be led and managed by competent and trained Health Information System (HIS) workforces with Project Management (PM) knowledge and skills. To support this, the University of Gondar in collaboration with the Jembi Health system and the Ministry of Health is developing course materials on HIS PM. The course is designed for new and middle-level HIS project managers to support the design, development, and implementation of digital health systems.
Objective
The project aims to develop a Continuing Program Development course that aims to equip trainees with the necessary knowledge and skills of HIS PM for the better management of digital health interventions through better documentation. The course helps new and mid-level project managers to learn best practices in HIS project planning, design, development, testing, implementation, and close out.
Activities
In this project, the following activities are involved:
- Conducting a need assessment: This involves need assessment tool development, participant mapping for the need assessment, and need assessment analysis and report writing
- Organize a course material development workshop: In the workshop, facilitators’ guide, participants manual, and PowerPoint slides were developed
- Facilitate a review workshop for accreditation
