Our Research Center founder and Leader, Dr. Binyam Chakilu , appointed as Chief Director for Research, Technology Transfer and Community services of the College of Medicine and Health Sciences of the University of Gondar. He has more than a decade of research leadership experience at an international level in three different continents ( Europe, North America, Africa). He currently leads different global level projects at University of Gondar in the area of eHealth, mHealth and Big Health Data and data use-with funding from major national and international organizations including- World Health Organization(WHO), Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF), European Union, Ethiopian Ministry of Health, Doris Duke Charitable Foundation, Grand Challenges Ethiopia and others. His projects mostly focus on national level capacity building and technical assistance for a sustainable health information system, and community-based innovations with a vision of improving clinical services and health system strengthening through low-cost, scalable digital health solutions in remote settings of Ethiopia.
Dr. Binyam completed his postdoctoral fellowship from the University of the British Columbia in Canada, obtained his PhD from the University of Münster, Germany, Master of Science degree under Erasmus Mundus Scholarship from Consortium of three universities in Europe (University of Juame I-Spain, University of Lisbon-Portugal and University of Munster-Germany) (2012) and another master’s degree in Public Health with Health Informatics specialization from the University of Gondar(2010).
